DEVELOPMENT OF A SQUARE

The project is located on the downstream tip of the island of La Grande Jatte. It is isolated from the rest of the island and the access is difficult. Despite limited access, this place is already busy. The bow is characterized by two levels : a high plateau and a low level which favors a dialogue with the Seine. The point is marked by a flag which acts as a figurehead and which makes it possible to make the link between the two levels thanks to a staircase which wraps around the base of the flag. 

We propose a topographical project intention, paying particular attention to the different elements that make up this bow with the aim of enhancing it and making it more attractive. 

At the bridge level we have placed a monolithic staircase which links the floor of the bow and the deck of the bridge in order to facilitate access. 
A guardrail secures the upper platform of the bow in order to maintain a distance from the water. 
Particular attention is paid to the floor by taking up the existing layout on the facade of the bridge. We create a drawing specific to this site.  
On the other side, bleachers are placed in the existing topography of the bow. It is oriented towards the large arm of the Seine and offers a special relationship with water.

The project is placed in a speculative approach which aims to question the strategic potential of spaces located at the tip of the Seine island. In particular the special relationships that the point can have with the shores and the rest of the island.
